First-Time
Candidate Funding
The Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) is
currently preparing for the 2007-2008 application
process. Each year, the LDE awards a $2,000 subsidy
($1,150 federal subsidy + $850 state subsidy) to
candidates to assist them in their NBC efforts.
Candidates who receive the subsidy are chosen
through a selection process in which applications
and applicant essays are ranked. If selected,
candidates receive the $2,000 subsidy and candidate
support through mentoring and support meetings.
Currently in the spring of each year, the Department
schedules recruitment meetings for the NBC process.
To be eligible for the subsidy and to begin the
subsidy application process, interested individuals
must attend one of these meetings. If
interested in participating in the 2007-2008 NBC
process and in applying for the federal and
state subsidy, please visit the
Coursewhere site in early spring,
register and attend a recruitment meeting scheduled
nearest you.

LA Department of Education website for
